Just wanted to share a few Halloween treats with all my ghouls tonight!  First off we have a freebie in the form of a kindle book!  I found this one yesterday in the free kindle section on Amazon and I have to admit, it was quite a fun way to spend an hour or two.  Death by Halloween (Adventures You Choose Book 1) by David Warkentin, is the kindle version those choose your own adventure books you remember from your childhood.  The difference is that Warkentin arranged the book in such a way that the stories aren't necessarily set up as win/lose scenarios but rather story 1/story 2 outcomes based on your decisions.  The different scenarios were quite thrilling with the backyard camping one being one of my favorites, but to reveal any more would spoil the fun.  I did find one "happy" ending within the pages, but mostly they all ended quite gruesomely, which let's be honest, is what were all here for anyways right?  As I said, the book is a lot of fun but if I had to constructively critique one aspect of the book it would be that some of the scenarios lose their Halloween themed flair along the way.  They do however all stay within the horror realm, so once again this is quite a nitpick.  The best part about the book is that the kindle version is FREE right now, and I believe will remain so for the next few days!  Go download it and help the Mr. Warkentin break the top 100 for the kindle rankings.  If you enjoy the book enough there is a paperback version available, and with it's amazing cover art would definitely warrant a slot in your Halloween book collection.  Here is the cover art, with a shoutout from the author going to Spacesick who designed the cover.  Click the book below to download the kindle version, currently for free, over at Amazon!

It's that time of year again!  Halloween will be here before we know it, and sadly gone faster than we can enjoy it.  Here at HalloweenOverkill I'll be celebrating the greatest holiday of the year by posting reviews of my favorite Halloween themed movies, books, music and more for the next month!  Hopefully there will also be some other fun stuff such as giveaways!  Check back here daily for Halloween goodness and don't forget to click on the Countdown to Halloween badge in the sidebar to be taken to the Countdown to Halloween blog and discover the many other blogs celebrating Halloween as well!

In honor of National Ghostbusters Day (according to Sony Pictures), here is a fan made Lego Ghostbusters short that I think you'll find quite hilarious!  The creator is MonsieurCaron, who also has plenty of other lego shorts available, including a behind the scenes vid for this particular short.  By the way as you are watching the video, keep an eye out for plenty of referential jokes including a joke regarding the absence of a real Slimer mini-fig.  According to an article over at Nerdist.com, MonsieurCaron mentions that because of the lack of a lego slimer, "I found someone else (who eats a lot) to fill in."  Let me know what you think of the substitution down in the comments!
