I hope that by now you've seen the trailer or promotional material for the Halloween nostalgia trip, "The Barn". If you've somehow been living in a hole on the internet and haven't, you can click on the one-sheet for The Barn over on the right to be taken to the official Nevermore Productions homepage. On the official page you can get all caught up on watching the trailer and checking out the amazing promotional material for The Barn that includes an actual NES game (cartridge and all), action figures, and an official board game. After you've seen some of the goodies that are being distributed to help promote The Barn I'm sure you're asking yourself but where oh where can I score some of that amazing swag? Fear not fellow HalloweenOverkillers, for I have your answer. If you head over to The Barn's IndieGoGo page you can donate money to help with some of the finishing costs of the film and be rewarded with some of the stuff you saw on the Nevermore homepage. It is here on the IndieGoGo page that you can earn the right to be one of the first to own a DVD copy of The Barn, since it has yet to find distribution. Head over and donate anywhere from $3.00 to $7,000.00 and maybe, just maybe this will be enough to get The Barn finished and into your home video collection! Below you can watch a video with writer/director Justin M. Seaman (who also plays one of the killers in the film - The Boogeyman) with Dr. Rock played by Ari Lehman - yes the first Jason Voorhees! Time and time again we hear about the next horror film being a throwback to old school horror or that it will be an homage to the slasher/monster movies we remember from our youth, but how often do those films deliver? According to my count, very rarely, but we might not have to wait that much longer for the hole in our 80s horror loving hearts to be filled! Yes, The Barn looks as though it's going to finally fulfill the promise of a movie being a genuine throwback to movies we all remember from youth (those in their late 20s/early 30s). The synopsis for The Barn as listed on the official website is this: It's Halloween 1989, best friends Sam and Josh are trying to enjoy what's left of their final Devil's Night before graduating high school. But trouble arises when the two pals and a group of friends take a detour on their way to a rock concert, finding an old abandoned barn and awakening the evil inside. Now it's up to Sam and Josh to find a way to protect their friends and defeat the creatures that lurk within "The Barn". The official poster for The Barn features three monsters that will make appearances in the film and they appear to be in the form of a skeleton miner, a pumpkin headed axe wielding maniac, and a burlap sack headed scarecrow style monster. Honestly, Nevermore Production Films couldn't be doing a better job promoting the film with a flair for 80s nostalgia as the official website has an early internet feel to it, the soundtrack sounds like it was ripped straight out of the 80s, and the trailer looks like a typical horror movie trailer from a bygone era. Nevermore Productions are even promoting action figures in the style of typical 80s toys, an 8-bit style video game, and a board game! Yes if you check out some of the promotional stills below you'll see that one of them features a "The Barn board game". I will keep you all informed on whether we will see that product soon or not. After the promo pictures I've also linked the trailer via Fangoria.com who ran the exclusive trailer a few days ago. The first thing I thought when I saw the website and trailer for The Barn was that I am now more excited about this movie than I have been about a film since the glory days (the 80s!).
